What Couldn't YOU Live Without ?

Okay, this is meant to be a bit of fun people, so let’s set aside the obvious – oxygen, food and water…and, for the sake of making it interesting, let’s also agree to put our spouses, kids and furry kids to one side as well….

Apart from those essentials, what couldn't YOU live without … or put another, less-dramatic way…. What, if it was taken away forever, what would you miss desperately and be thoroughly miserable without ?? (hmmm, wasn’t meant to be this complicated….)

For me it is quite simple – my book and CD collections. I spend an exorbitant amount on both; to me, too many books and too many CDs is never, EVER enough. I don’t watch television at all and am not much of a movie fan, but I can lose myself for hours, for days, in my books and my music. Whilst I love my 80GB ipod, I just can’t get past the joy I get from actually buying and owning the actual CD; yes, they all end up on my ipod, and no, I can’t remember the last time I actually played a CD all the way through (give me ipod on continuous shuffle baby !), but I’ve just got to have them. I also can't remember the last time I actually went shopping without buying at least one book. I am rapidly running out of space to put them all, and so I'm prone to stacking them two and three deep in my bookshelves (which drives Tex spare !), and I have far less time in any one lifetime to ever get to read them all...

Oh, and I seriously hate anybody else messing with my collections - when I came home from work one day and found Tex had re-arranged all my books, according to author and (hell, get me some oxygen) had even regaled some of them to the garage (breathe, breathe....) well, it was almost grounds for a divorce. Or, to find that Zach has taken one of my CDs from it's rightful place and then left it in his room, or (yikes !) left it in his room without putting it back in it's cover....well, let's just say it's never too late to put kids to work in coal mines.

Thankfully, I have my own boy-free sanctuary in our home where only me and my cats are allowed to enter (Tex and Zach by invitation only !!), where I can light my candles and oil burners and sit and read or listen to music – ahhhh, it’s so wonderfully serene (or it would be if Tex didn't play his electric guitar with the amp turned up to 11....but, that'll probably be on his list :)

So…what couldn't you live without ?

Well, having lost almost everything I ever owned (book and CD collections and furry kids included)in my last 'relationship debacle' it amazed me what I actually learned not to miss...and quite quickly, furry kids aside, I still miss them terribly but if I had to cite one thing I 'couldn't live without'....my cell phone. Sad but true. ;o)

Hmmmm, I'll make my own rule and narrow it to 5
Music
Bread
Cheese
Flowers
Fruit

Sounds wierd but I'm very happy when I have those things. If those 5 things arrived everyday or I had access to them, sweet. I think I need to live in Italy. Like Diane Lane did in that movie..

Take your pick of riding the scooter, listening to music and going to the ballgame.

Much LOL! Oh, you sound just like me. ALL the books and cd's in our house are MINE. Well, okay, I think the hubby has 3 cds. But please don't touch my stuff!!
I wish I had space in our house for a "me only" room. Oh wait a minute, I guess I do have that, it's called the laundry room... as if the husband would ever set foot in there to do laundry??

Abbey, you make me laugh! Color-coding your undies in ziploc bags!?!?

Okay, what could I live without? I'd love to do away with the motor vehicle and go back to the days of horse & buggy for transportation.
I burned (figuratively speaking) the bras along time ago. I've worn one exactly once (that I can recall) in the past 12 months, & I was miserable the whole time. I ditched the tit-slings & now just wear the camisole tops w/the built in shelf bra. Much more comfy!!

I am computer baby...seeing that I have 3 I think you get the idea. And TiVo...I'm TV baby too.

And long underwear...I don't wear sweats, but I love wearing long underwear...I know weird.

I want to curl up on that chair, Missus. It looks way comfy!

Gemmak - I always carry my mobile, on the pretext 'in case of an emergency' but the truth is there hasn't been too many of those, but the bills keep getting higher each month :) hmmmm

Watergurl - Ahhh, yes ! Let's all of us go live under the Tuscan sun :)

Joe - Your scooter is my motorbike so I truly get that it would be hard to live without your ride !

Abbey - Snap !! Yes, I am Taurean as a matter of fact - I'll be 44 on May 20 this year :) And I'm really trying to bring on the inner glow - but of a stumbling block with the DVT saga, but I'm committed to it :)

PW - I would happily do away with cars (as long as I could still ride my motorbike...) And I also love those shelf-bra camisoles - very comfy.

Sarah - I wouldn't have said I was really into computers, but I do spend 6-7 hours a day on one at work, then way too much time blogging at night, so I would actually find it very difficult to live (work) without one too. Gotta ask, (1) whats TiVo ?? (2) so the long underwear.....inner or outer wear ??

It is like Wrestling: It can be fake, innovative and still be very gratifying.

...you do know that every man had/has their own secret stash, right?

Probably not much in the way of material stuff that I couldn't live without.

There's lots of stuff I'd hate to lose in say, a fire, but I don't think there's anything I couldn't live without.

If I have to pick 5, I'd say guitars and amp, records and cds, motorbike, photos, and.......not much else.
